What has been your favorite or most impactful function or event of WLA?
The WAAL Annual Conferences are a highlight of my year. I'm always re-energized by the ways our colleagues across the state take risks, try new things and live to tell us all about the successes and failures.
How has being a member of WLA impacted you or your career?
WLA has connected me with great librarians and rad human beings who inspire me to push the envelope at my own library.
Do you have a library role model (in Wisconsin or elsewhere) that has provided you with inspiration or guidance? Please share a little bit about it.
I've been a fan of the Rice-Aron library at Marlboro College in Vermont for a while. They are always doing new and interesting things despite (or maybe because) they are a school of only 250 students in the middle of nowhere. From open source software to a library service bar to zine collections--such a dreamy joint!
Do you have any advice for new WLA members?
Volunteer for a committee – or for five! It's the best way to get to know your colleagues from other libraries.
